Juliet Chowdhry Travels to Pakistan to Secure First Permanent Safe House

Earlier this year, thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we successfully raised over £15,000 towards the purchase of our first ever permanent safe house in Pakistan. These safe houses are vital for offering immediate refuge and security to persecuted Christian families, many of whom face threats to their lives after fleeing violent attacks or false blasphemy allegations.

Unfortunately, despite having the funds in hand, we were unable to finalise the purchase at the time as none of our trustees were able to travel to Pakistan. Now, with a renewed sense of urgency, our Trustee Juliet Chowdhry will soon be travelling to secure the purchase of a safe house.

The Properties Under Consideration

1. Single Storey House (524 sq. ft.) – £18,848.50

  • One bedroom, attached washroom, TV lounge, and small kitchen.

  • Small motorbike garage, accessible via a wider street.

  • Located near a large Christian enclave.

  • Downsides: constructed with low-quality materials and not easily modifiable.

  • Total cost after fees and taxes: £18,848.50.

2. Double Storey House (680 sq. ft.) – £18,329.50

  • Ground floor: one bedroom, washroom, open kitchen.

  • First floor: one bedroom, washroom, open kitchen.

  • Located near a large Christian enclave.

  • Pros: move-in ready, can house two small families.

  • Cons: very congested streets, small kitchens and bedrooms, limited scope for modification.

  • Total cost after fees and taxes: £18,329.50.

3. Large Hall (1,361 sq. ft.) – £23,013 (including repairs)

The Challenge We Face

Since our original appeal, property prices have risen sharply, leaving us around £3,000 short of the final purchase budget. Our preferred option is the hall, as it offers the most space, flexibility for future expansion, and a safer environment for families. However, it requires urgent investment in renovations — particularly the replacement of its fragile wooden and straw roof with a strong concrete roof. This means an additional £5,000 is required to make it safe and suitable for vulnerable families.

Reopening Our Safe House Appeal

We are therefore reopening our Safe House Appeal with the aim of raising at least £3,000 by 28th September. If we can go beyond this and raise the additional £5,000 required for renovations, we will be able to secure the larger hall — providing a far more sustainable and expandable refuge for persecuted believers.

This is a critical moment. With Juliet preparing to finalise the purchase during her visit, we urgently need your support to ensure no opportunity is missed.
