When the River Ravi burst its banks on 28th August, floodwaters engulfed Theme Park View Society, Lahore, within an hour.

Over 250 Christian families lost everything and many now live in makeshift tents with no food, water, or medical care.

On 4th September, BACA responded to a call for help, delivering emergency supplies of food and clean drinking water.

Outbreaks of diarrhoea and skin disease are spreading, and urgent medical assistance is now desperately needed.

On 4th September 2025, the BACA team responded to an urgent call for help from Pastor Zafar Gill of the Pakistan Assemblies of God Church in Chung. We reached the flood-stricken Christian families of Theme Park View Society, Lahore, who had been left devastated after the River Ravi overflowed on 28th August, submerging their homes within an hour.

Families Flee With Nothing

Over 250 Christian families lived in the society, most of them road sweepers, cleaners, and women working as domestic maids. With no warning of the danger, they had no time to prepare.

“As the flood swept through the society, families left everything behind and ran simply to survive.” explained Pastor Zafar Gill.

Those with relatives outside the area relocated, but dozens of families with nowhere to go sought refuge in makeshift tents set up by the church.

BACA Responds with Food and Water

When our team arrived, families—young children, women, men, and the elderly—were waiting in desperate need of food and clean drinking water. They had lost everything, even basic items like bedding, and were surviving only on the kindness of nearby Christian neighbours.

As we distributed food packets and water, people rushed to gather around our team, their relief and gratitude clear.

“They are waiting for relief, please come and help them,” Pastor Gill had pleaded earlier.

The Growing Threat of Disease

The stagnant floodwaters have become a breeding ground for illness. Pastor Gill reported outbreaks of diarrhoea and skin diseases, with families left vulnerable due to a lack of medical care.

He urged BACA to establish a medical camp in the affected area to prevent further suffering and expressed heartfelt thanks that our team responded so swiftly to his call.

Families Starting From Nothing

These Christian families had spent years struggling to purchase land and build modest homes in the society. The floodwaters have swept all of that away.

“Now they will have to start from zero again,” Pastor Gill told us.

BACA is committed to continuing our support by providing medical aid, food, and clean water in the coming days.

With homes destroyed, families endure life in makeshift tents

Juliet Chowdhry, Trustee of the British Asian Christian Association:

“The families of Theme Park View Society have lost everything to the floods—homes, possessions, and livelihoods. Many are now living in makeshift tents, vulnerable to hunger and disease. Our immediate aid has provided food and clean water, but the need for medical support is urgent. We cannot turn away from their suffering, and with your help, we will continue to bring hope and relief.”
