{"id":1028,"date":"2015-03-23T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-03-23T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.britishasianchristians.org\/full-previous-archive\/2015\/03\/23\/watery-treat-for-pakistan-day-decided-on-un-world-water-day\/"},"modified":"2023-04-30T07:21:18","modified_gmt":"2023-04-30T06:21:18","slug":"watery-treat-for-pakistan-day-decided-on-un-world-water-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishasianchristians.org\/full-previous-archive\/watery-treat-for-pakistan-day-decided-on-un-world-water-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Watery treat for Pakistan Day decided on UN World Water Day!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.britishasianchristians.org\/full-previous-archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/BPCA-pump-2.jpg\" style=\"border: 0px none currentcolor; width: 700px;\" \/><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Image of the BPCA pump we installed for gang-raped Christian teenagers Sherish and Farzana.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>\nWe are very pleased to announce that the BPCA has received funds to build five water pumps for the deprived Christian&nbsp;community of&nbsp;Jaranwala. &nbsp;Many living in this community have suffered the ignominy of poor health and regular taunting because of the inability to wash properly and drink clean&nbsp;water. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Poor Christians in this community earn around &pound;600 per year and the boring of pumps would cost over a year&#8217;s salary. &nbsp;No help has ever been provided to the Christians of this community despite it being the worst off&nbsp;community in the area. &nbsp;Our research revealed that no Muslim home was without water.<\/p>\n<p>We discovered the plight of the 40 Christian families in the area during our time working with Sherish (14 years) and Farzana (16 years). &nbsp;The two under-age sisters were abducted at gun-point and&nbsp;held for 12 hours by three Muslim boys who&nbsp;brutally beat and gang-raped them. The kidnap was made easier because the deprived family were forced to use a field for a toilet. The boys even had the audacity to demand that the girls called upon their God to help them, telling them that Christian girls are whores. &nbsp;The BPCA is subsidising their legal battle <a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishpakistanichristians.co.uk\/BlogRetrieve.aspx?PostID=614470&amp;A=SearchResult&amp;SearchID=237575&amp;ObjectID=614470&amp;ObjectType=55\">(click here).<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We took the girls away into our safekeeping <a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishpakistanichristians.co.uk\/BlogRetrieve.aspx?PostID=613904&amp;A=SearchResult&amp;SearchID=237575&amp;ObjectID=613904&amp;ObjectType=55\">(click here)<\/a> after they were being threatened with further rape by local Muslim boys who, despicably, &#8216;wanted their turn,&#8217; &nbsp;and a shooting incident in which the perpetrators were trying to force the victim family to drop all charges against them. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishpakistanichristians.co.uk\/BlogRetrieve.aspx?PostID=558540&amp;A=SearchResult&amp;SearchID=237575&amp;ObjectID=558540&amp;ObjectType=55\">(click here)<\/a>. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>One of our gifts to this family was the installation of a toilet and water pump, and it was&nbsp;from there&nbsp;that our water project was born. &nbsp;Our project will&nbsp;provide five water pumps and was ratified by the Christian charity (who wish to remain anonymous)&nbsp;yesterday&nbsp;on the UN&#8217;s World Water day, 22nd March <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unwater.org\/worldwaterday\">(click here)<\/a>. &nbsp; The five pumps will be affixed to the properties of five Christian families, in strategic locations, and we will secure agreements and commitments that neighbouring families will share the facilities and contribute to any maintenance.&nbsp;<br \/>\nThis will make this project both holistic and sustainable, and importantly, will give back dignity to our suffering brothers and sisters. &nbsp;We are hoping to&nbsp;construct a physical building beside each pump&nbsp;to provide a toilet and bathing area for the needy families, and we&nbsp;are&nbsp;confident&nbsp;that&nbsp;you, our supporters,&nbsp;will&nbsp;be keen&nbsp;to contribute towards this.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By a stroke of luck we were informed of the funding today, which is Pakistan Day.&nbsp;This is a<span style=\"line-height: 22.39px; font-family: sans-serif; color: #252525;\">&nbsp;national celebration <\/span><span style=\"line-height: 22.39px; font-family: sans-serif; color: #252525;\">that marks the successful adoption of a constitutional draft<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 22.39px; color: #252525;\"><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif;\">&nbsp;that ultimately called for greater autonomy in British India. &nbsp;It was first inaugurate on 23rd March 1956 when Sikander Mirza, Pakistan&#8217;s first democratically elected Prime Minister, promulgated the initial set of the existing constitution of Pakistan. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: sans-serif;\">Although this constitution can be blamed for the creation of second-class citizenship in Pakistan, it nevertheless also helped Pakistan to full independence, so we wish all Pakistanis a Happy Pakistan day! &nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-family: sans-serif;\">Our gift to the rural Christians of Jaranwala will no doubt be the best surprise they have ever had on Pakistan Day!!!!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-weight: 700;\"><span style=\"line-height: 25.2px; font-size: medium; font-family: arial;\">We have initiated a fund to build toilets and bathrooms to compliment these pumps.
