{"id":1538,"date":"2019-05-22T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-05-21T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.britishasianchristians.org\/full-previous-archive\/2019\/05\/22\/newport-church-hosts-celebration-of-asia-bibis-freedom-from-pakistan-during-revival-event-2\/"},"modified":"2019-05-22T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2019-05-21T23:00:00","slug":"newport-church-hosts-celebration-of-asia-bibis-freedom-from-pakistan-during-revival-event-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishasianchristians.org\/full-previous-archive\/newport-church-hosts-celebration-of-asia-bibis-freedom-from-pakistan-during-revival-event-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Newport church hosts celebration of Asia Bibi&#8217;s freedom from Pakistan during revival event"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Leo twins, Rev Arif Bhatti and Asher Dewan, led worship and shared a revival message.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Close to 200 Pakistani Christians gathered at Church in Newport Wales to celebrate freedom for Asia Bibi a mother of five who has spent the best part of<br \/>\nthe last ten years behind bars after falsely being accused of blasphemy.<\/p>\n<p>The event was organised by Pastor Mehboob Elahi who leads Praise and Power Ministries, who meet regularly every Sunday at Gaer Christian Centre, Newport,<br \/>\nSouth Wales.<\/p>\n<p>At the event were Pakistan&#8217;s leading Gospel performers including the Leo Twins, Asher Dewan and rev Arif Bhatti who led a wonderful revival event, sharing<br \/>\nthe Gospel through music and testimony as revellers drew closer to God.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UnTz5LVAl_8\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Pastor Mehboob Ellahi, said:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(79, 129, 189);\">&#8220;The Christian community of Pakistan has suffered intense persecution which has grown in ferocity and scale over the last few decades.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(79, 129, 189);\">&#8220;However, news of Asia Bibi&#8217;s exoneration at the end of last year and her final escape from Pakistan in the last two weeks has given our community in the homeland and our many global diaspora a real boost.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(79, 129, 189);\">&#8220;It felt appropriate to celebrate her freedom here in the UK and during a planned revival event when I knew the spirit of God would be right in the midst of our people, I felt the time was right to revel in our God&#8217;s grace and glory!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/mehboobrev4.jpg\"><br \/><\/span><b>Pastor Mehboob presided over the revival event and prayed for safety for Asia Bibi.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(79, 129, 189);\">&#8220;Christians have become the most persecuted people across the globe, and our Bible forewarned us of this.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(79, 129, 189);\">&#8220;However, our faith is in God and his assurance of heaven, the bible tells us:<\/span> <span style=\"color: rgb(192, 80, 77);\">&#8216;<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: rgb(192, 80, 77);\">For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.&#8217;<\/span><br \/>\n    <\/p>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(79, 129, 189);\">&#8220;Asia Bibi has gone through terrible brutality and one day when she finally reaches heaven she will be rewarded for being a<\/span>    <span style=\"color: rgb(192, 80, 77);\">&#8216;good and faithful servant.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);\"><span style=\"color: rgb(79, 129, 189);\">&#8220;Her testimony is one that has caught the attention of the world and in doing so given revival to her community of Pakistani Christians &#8211; she will remain in our prayers.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/Mehboobrev1.jpg?Action=thumbnail&amp;algorithm=fill_proportional&amp;width=630\" width=\"630\"><br \/>\n    <br \/><strong>Wilson Chowdhry Chowdhry shared an update on Asia Bibi and other persecuted Christians.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wilson Chowdhry, Chairman of the British Asian Christian Association, said:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(79, 129, 189);\">&#8220;Asia Bibi&#8217;s freedom was brought about by a long campaign by many NGO&#8217;s, governments and politicians across the globe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(79, 129, 189);\">&#8220;Her plight resulted in Britain&#8217;s foreign office commissioning a global review of Christian persecution.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(79, 129, 189);\">&#8220;Bibi&#8217;s resolute upholding of her faith despite assurances of freedom if she converted to Islam is a testament of faith beyond measure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(79, 129, 189);\">&#8220;Neither did Bibi ever give up hope for her freedom or even once consider giving up her torrid situation, by relinquishing her faith.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(79, 129, 189);\">&#8220;She has indelibly changed the world we live in and has made nations in the west less blind to the dangers of extremism.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(79, 129, 189);\">&#8220;Celebrating her freedom with the amassed Pak-Christians at the church in Newport was a real blessing&nbsp;
