{"id":658,"date":"2017-02-14T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-02-14T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.britishasianchristians.org\/full-previous-archive\/2017\/02\/14\/romantic-gesture-to-build-confidence-amongst-persecuted-christians\/"},"modified":"2023-04-30T05:30:25","modified_gmt":"2023-04-30T04:30:25","slug":"romantic-gesture-to-build-confidence-amongst-persecuted-christians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishasianchristians.org\/full-previous-archive\/romantic-gesture-to-build-confidence-amongst-persecuted-christians\/","title":{"rendered":"Romantic gesture to build confidence amongst Persecuted Christians"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Many myths surround the origins of Valentines Day which is now an annual holiday celebrated across the globe, though nowhere is it a public holiday.<\/p>\n<p>However the most interesting legend and one of the oldest asserts that St Valentine was a Christian presbyter who once conducted marriages for soldiers<br \/>\n    and their lovers, so that they could maintain their vows to God. &nbsp;As the story goes he also provided care and assistance to desperate persecuted<br \/>\n    Christians during the Roman era.<\/p>\n<p>In keeping with this theme &#8211; the care towards the persecuted Christians not the marrying of soldiers of course &#8211; we planned to distribute flowers to<br \/>\n    all the persecuted women we are helping and our women officers too. &nbsp;Not that we felt this celebration was essential for our faith or held any<br \/>\n    Christian value per se but because we felt we could use the established celebration as an opportunity to bring some joy to those in our care whilst<br \/>\n    sharing Christian love.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/Valentines6.jpg\"><br \/>\n    <br \/>Farzana holds her flowers she is still working hard on a stitching course and hopes soon to start a business of her own.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/Valentines3.jpg?Action=thumbnail&amp;algorithm=fill_proportional&amp;width=700\" width=\"700\"><br \/>\n    <br \/> Sherish is now married and can be seen with her husband who she married just a month ago.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/Valentines4.jpg?Action=thumbnail&amp;algorithm=fill_proportional&amp;width=700\" width=\"700\"><br \/>\n    <br \/> Amber Saroya our latest officer was given her first valentines flowers.<\/p>\n<p>Flowers were also recieved by Mehwish Bhatti our lead officer in Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Many myths surround the origins of Valentines Day which is now an annual holiday celebrated across the globe, though nowhere is it a public holiday.
