BACA’s First Safe House for Persecuted Christians in Pakistan Nears Completion: A Sanctuary of Hope Takes Shape

After months of determined construction, BACA’s first-ever safe house for persecuted Christians in Pakistan is nearing the end of its final phase. Built with security, dignity, and hope at its heart, the refuge will provide immediate protection for families fleeing violence, false blasphemy accusations, and religious persecution. Every brick laid represents a promise that vulnerable Christians will no longer face their darkest moments alone. Soon, this long-awaited sanctuary will open its doors to those who need it most.

BACA’s First Safe House for Persecuted Christians in Pakistan Nears Completion

For many Christians in Pakistan, a false accusation, a violent mob, or a targeted attack can force families to flee their homes within minutes. Until now, there has been nowhere specifically designed to offer immediate safety and refuge during these life-threatening crises.

That is about to change.

After months of dedicated work, the British Asian Christian Association’s (BACA) first-ever safe house for persecuted Christians in Pakistan is approaching completion—a landmark project that will provide a secure haven for some of the country’s most vulnerable victims of religious persecution.

More than simply a building, this safe house represents security, dignity, and hope for families who have lost everything.

A Fortress Built for Protection

Unlike an ordinary residence, every aspect of the safe house has been designed with security in mind.

The structure has been constructed using double-brick walls, providing enhanced strength and protection for those seeking refuge. Multiple security checkpoints have been incorporated throughout the building to safeguard both residents and BACA staff during periods of heightened risk.

For obvious security reasons, the precise location of the safe house will remain strictly confidential and will only ever be shared on a need-to-know basis.

Additional protective measures are also being installed, including:

  • Two reinforced steel security gates.
  • Comprehensive CCTV coverage monitoring both approaches to the entrance.
  • Secure internal access points designed to protect vulnerable families during emergencies.

These measures ensure that the safe house will function as a genuine place of refuge for Christians escaping immediate danger.

Construction Progress

The project has continued to advance steadily despite several unavoidable delays.

May 2026

Construction reached an important milestone as the building’s walls were completed using double-brick construction, leaving the structure ready for roofing.

On 21 May, the project architect conducted a full site inspection to ensure all work complied with the required structural and safety standards.

June 2026

Although roofing was expected to be completed by the end of May, the Eid-ul-Adha holidays temporarily slowed progress.

Nevertheless, work continued steadily.

The shuttering was completed before steel reinforcement was installed to provide long-term structural strength and durability. Electrical conduits and ceiling fan boxes were positioned before concrete was poured.

On 10 June, the reinforced roof slab was successfully cast, marking completion of the building’s entire grey structure.

Following the recommended curing period, the shuttering supports were removed on 20 June, allowing the project to move into the finishing phase.

July 2026

Significant finishing work has now been completed, including:

  • Wall plastering throughout the building.
  • Skim coating using white cement and PVA to create smooth painted surfaces.
  • Completion of the sewerage system.
  • Floor preparation using crushed stone ready for tile installation.

As of 22 July, ceiling installation is underway, giving each room its finished appearance before painting begins.

Although Pakistan’s seasonal monsoon rains have delayed floor tiling due to excessive moisture, this temporary setback is necessary to ensure the tiles bond correctly and remain durable for many years.

With the ceilings nearing completion, the project has now entered its final stages.

A Lifeline for Persecuted Christians

Every year, BACA assists Christians forced into hiding after false blasphemy accusations, violent attacks, forced conversions, land seizures, and other forms of religious persecution.

Many families are displaced with nothing more than the clothes they are wearing.

This safe house will offer immediate shelter while BACA provides legal assistance, emergency support, counselling, relocation assistance, and practical care to help families begin rebuilding their lives.

It will become a place where fear can begin to give way to hope.

A Vision Becoming Reality

Commenting on the progress of the project, Juliet Chowdhry, Trustee of BACA, said:

“Every brick in this safe house has been laid with one purpose—to protect lives. For families fleeing violence because of their Christian faith, this building will mean the difference between fear and safety, despair and hope. We cannot stop persecution overnight, but we can ensure that those who have nowhere else to turn will always find refuge, compassion, and protection through BACA.”

Thank You to Our Supporters

This project has only been possible because of the generosity of BACA’s supporters around the world.

Your prayers, donations, and unwavering commitment are transforming an empty building into a sanctuary that will save lives for years to come.

As construction enters its final phase, we look forward to sharing the completion of this historic milestone—a place where persecuted Christians will finally have somewhere safe to call home when every other door has been closed to them.

Together, we are building far more than walls.

We are building hope.
