We earlier reported on the assassination attempt on Pastor Narendra Besra (46 yrs) that occurred on February 4, 2022. In the attack he received several stab and slash wounds to his shoulder chest, hand, and head

The attack occurred while staying over night in a village called Baghima-Pahantoli , where he had been visiting rural church members (click here).

After we met and prayed with Pastor Besra we began to support some of the costs for his medical treatment. Many of you were horrified by the brutal attack and the severity of the wounds he suffered and through your donations we were able to help bring healing to Pastor Besra. You can read more and view video (here).  We thank our donors who made this possible and CMC Biru Hospital for the excellent medical treatment they provided.

Pastor Narendra was advised by doctors to rest his hands for six months and has recently begun some physiotherapy sessions for fuller recovery of movement in his hands.

His physiotherapy sessions are being taken at Shanti Bhavan Medical Centre Biru, Sidega. Dr Samuel Lakra is supervising the physiotherapy sessions with Dr Shabnam Manki delivering treatment.

One round of sessions is over but the second round of sessions will soon begin. He needs 20 sessions for the full recovery of his hands at the cost of 20,000 INR (£200).

Pastor Besra, said:

“I thank God that he kept me alive despite the brutality of the attack.

“Christians in India face great dangers simply professing a love for Christ can stir up hatred in an increasingly polarised country where Christians are detested.

“God is a great healer and I feel much better now, I long for the day that my doctors say it is safe for me to return to my work sharing the Gospel.

“Jesus is the everlasting Father of creation and I will always praise His name.”

Juliet Chowdhry Trustee for British Asian Christian Association, said:

“Pastor Besra showed great courage after his attack and his seeking of God in prayer during a painful surgery is just amazing to watch.

“He is a faithful Christian and we all wish him a speedy recovery.”

“She added:

“Christians we speak to confirm that India many decades ago was a more peaceful nation.

“Certainly Christians there say attacks on them were less frequent and less violent.

“However Hindu Nationalist groups like RSS have slowly polarised society and the current Modi regime has furthered that goal.

“We pray for a day when citizens of all diversities in India can live in peace and harmony without fear of being persecuted.”

Pastor Narendra Besra has requested help with the cost for these sessions too and we therefore have created this appeal.  If you would like to help Pastor Besra gain full recovery of the movement in his hands please (click here).
