Our Volunteer Rajeshri Chouhan displaying some of the wonderful gifts.

Three formerly used warm coats, a good quality electric sewing machine, fresh new pillow cases, mugs and T-shirts with Bible verses and a variety of Christian books, were gifted to British Asian Christian Association last week.  There were also some additional used clothes and a new plush toy.

The donor was an Indian Christian who began life in Goa and initially went to a Catholic church but is now attending a Baptist Church.

The items were all collected from Bromley by our volunteer Rajeshri Chouhan and will now be distributed at our Meals for the Homeless Project in Ilford, London and some items will be sent to Lahore Pakistan.

We are particularly pleased with the sewing machine as we have recently started a new stitching centre for widows and rape victims in Pakistan with a partner organisation and will gift this to the centre.

The venue we use for our Meals for the Homeless Project is  Clementswood Community Centre which was started over 10 years ago and is well known locally.  Though no longer under British Asian Christian Association’s control we have free access three days a week to continue providing our meals service.

Our Meals for the Homeless Project was one of only few support groups in Redbridge during the first and most difficult lockdown.  Over 65 people visited us two times a day at a time when homeless and economically deprived families found it most hard to get food on their plates. Our work even featured in a BBC News report due to Hannah Chowdhry who founded and led the early project:
