Christian Girl who suffered rape at only six years of age receives court decision soon

After a Christian girl of only six years was beaten and raped after being forcibly taken to the home of a Muslim man in broad daylight in September 2019,
BACA stepped in to help- read more (here).

We provided a solicitor and began the legal procedure to get justice, however the perpetrator Mr and his cohorts began threatening the Christian parents
with violence, the rape of Tabitha Masih (7 yrs) and their other daughters and financial ruin if they proceeded with a legal case against paedophile
Muhammad Waqas (18 yrs). The threats heightened after the rapist was bailed despite clear evidence of his crime.

As a precaution BACA in October 2020, provided the family with the keys to a home far from where they lived before. We caught up with family to see
how the move was for them. The parents have advised us that both of them have been able to find local work and that all the children are back at school,
after having been forced to stay away for fear of kidnap or worse (click here)

Tabita’s case is now at the final stage of court proceedings. A witness statement has been recorded and we await for the judge to cross-examine the
arguments put forward by both legal teams. BACA funded solicitor Sumaira Hussain, said:

“The delay in justice is a consequence of Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns and absences.

“Court timings have also been shortened due to Ramadan because Judges leave for their homes around 2 pm.

“We are poised to deliver our arguments and are very hopeful that justice will be dispensed to little Tabita”

Munir Masih (44 yrs), father of Tabita, said:

“My daughter has suffered a lot at such a tender age.

“Since moving away from our home town to escape Waqas, her rapist, her mindset is improving.

“I want to see the culprit of the attempted rape of my innocent daughter punished for his crime.

“I have been offered money as compensation but I have accepted none.

“The family and friends of Waqas have threatened me with dire consequences if I continue fighting for justice but I have not caved in – instead I put my trust in Christ.”

Juliet Chowdhry, Trustee for British Pakistani Christians, said:

“We hope and pray for a just decision in the courts.

“Tabita and her family have suffered immensely during this whole period and a conviction would give them some closure and a chance to move on with their lives.”
