Asia Bibi, the 50-year-old Pakistani Christian women on death row for alleged blasphemy, a charge she vehemently denies, suggest the mother of five is now suffering from intestinal bleeding and requires urgent medical treatment. (click here)
Asia Bibi has a death sentence looming over her after being accused of insulting the Prophet Muhammad, an accusation that she wholeheartedly denies. She has been described by her family as “so weak she can hardly walk.”
Her family rushed back last week, from a tour of Europe during which they sought to galvanise support for Asia Bibi in western nations. None of them had seen Asia for over a month.
The family were to visit a #WeAreN Congress, organized by MasLibres.org
after having visited the Vatican where they were received during the general audience by
Pope Francis.

, stomach problems developing for months worsened to the point that she is suffering from “intestinal bleeding”.
Asia Bibi is struggling to eat, has visible traces of blood when vomiting and is suffering severe intestinal pains which is causing great distress to the family. This has resulted in her solicitors challenging Pakistani authorities for better health care and a thorough medical investigation.
The family have told us that lawyers are trying to get Asia moved to Lahore Jail, where they reside as the travel to Multan Jail is extremely tiring and long. The family are in great distress.
Chairman of the BPCA, Wilson Chowdhry, said:
“Asia Bibi has been facing rapidly declining health for some time, and we call on Christians to uphold her in their prayers. The disenfranchised mother of five has had to survive in a dingy, grimy cell for the last 5 and a half years, preparing and cooking her own food, after attempts to poison her were foiled.”
He added:
“Asia continues to believe that God will release her form her captivity, however the Supreme Court hearing date is proving hard to achieve. Many believe the delay is instigated by Pakistani authorities in an attempt to subvert justice through her early demise. If Asia Bibi is prevented her opportunity to exonerate her name, it will be viewed as a great travesty of justice and a blight on the reputation of the supposedly democratic nation of Pakistan. I urge people in the west to challenge their country’s leaders to intervene on behalf of Asia and directly email the Prime Minister and President of Pakistan, calling for them to expedite her Supreme Court hearing and to ensure she gets adequate treatment for her current poor health.”
