Pak-Christians mourn the loss of slain victims of Charsadda attack

Wilson Chowdhry presents flowers of condolence to Naghma Khan PA to the High Commissioner for Pakistan in UK.

Today 25th January 2016, British Pakistani Christian Association’s Wilson and Juliet Chowdhry visited the High Commission for Pakistan to the UK and
delivered a sheaf of flowers in memory to the innocent lives lost in Pakistan’s most recent terror attack at Charsadda (click here).

Young men and women seeking to develop their academic abilities to empower future careers that would benefit country and people, were killed and maimed
in an unprovoked and unwarranted grenade and gun attack.  The seven hour debacle at Bacha University is believed to have taken 31 innocent lives
and injured a further 18.  One of the fatalities was a brave chemistry professor who first instructed students were to run and hide before holding
up the attackers, despite knowing it would mean certain death to him.

The attack which was only 40km away from a gun attack on a military school in Peshawar in 2014 that killed 141 people including 132 children, shocked
the international community when shown on global TV news channels.

Tehrik e Taliban Pakistan have claimed responsibility for the attack which has gained universal condemnation.  The killing of innocent victims
is hard to palate the latest attack has reminded people how low the Taliban are willing stoop and their limited value on human life.

The gesture of love was organised to declare the BPCA’s solidarity with the government and people of Pakistan, against the evil malice extremists bent
on hatred are perpetrating.

Although High Commissioner Syed Ibne Abbas was on diplomatic duty his Personal Assistant Nagma Khan collected the flowers on his behalf.

Wilson Chowdhry, Chairman of the BPCA, said:

“Trustees of the BPCA were so moved by the latest story of terror in Pakistan. The loss of young, progressive academics is a human capital loss that can never be compensated.  As a man with origins from Pakistan I have great love for Pakistan, the land of my forefathers, and as a father I can imagine the loss of a child and the great hurt this would cause.  There can be few more devastating moments than the dire pain of a parent burying their child, especially under such unexpected and traumatic circumstances.”

“By delivering these flowers to the Pak-High Commissioner we wanted to emphasise the love Christians have for Pakistan.  We wanted to express our utter condemnation of terrorism and our support for the Pakistani government and people of Pakistan. Societal differences that have polarised communities in Pakistan, disappear at times of great atrocity.  It is sadly tragic moments like these that bind the populace of a nation into a cohesive unit and we are praying that the deaths of theses innocents over time leads to a greater sense of national identity.  One that accepts and tolerates all faiths and cultures – in this way the sad loss of lives today will become a melting pot of hope for future generations.”

On 26th January 2016 the BPCA team returns to Charsadda to offer further help and assistance to victims.  Mehwish Bhatti will offer counselling and prayer support and help with and medical costs.

BPCA has launched an appeal for the victims of Charsadda. Our help for victims in Pakistan is provided irrespective of faith and acts as great testimony of the love of God.  We are equipped with free bibles and share a free copy with anyone who desires to learn more about Christ our saviour.
