At a glittering event at held at the Christian Guest House in Bangkok at 2pm on 26th March 2017 humanitarian individuals were recognized by a Pakistani
Charity for their help towards the betterment of the Pakistani Christian asylum seeker community in Thailand.
Bright Future Society a Christian NGO that hail from Pakistan awarded Wilson Chowdhry Chairman of the British Pakistani Christian Association for ‘Exemplary
services for the Christian Community in Thailand.
Mr Chowdhry, Chairman of the British Pakistani Christian Association was thanked for his work, emancipating victims from the brutal Immigration Detention
Centre (IDC) in Bagkok, providing food and bible verses to victims in the IDC, running the longest running school for asylum seekers by any Pakistani
Christian charity and ensuring through direct media communication global awareness of the plight of Pakistani Christian asylum seekers in Thailand
– including acting as a fixer for BBC’s Chris Rogers for a 1 hour documentary, that can be viewed (here)
Mr Chowdhry was in Greece and Turkey assisting Pakistani asylum seekers who have been found homeless and desolate, so Our lead officer in Thailand
Annie Ishaq collected the award for Mr Chowdhry
Mr Chowdhry, said:
“Although it sounds very cliche, I have to say my work for Pakistani Christians is a calling from God and is something I am very passionate about. I do not undertake my work for awards but it is nice to be recognized.
“I feel like a charlatan as the real hard work is done by our Thailand based officer Annie Ishaq. They are supported by our lead officers in Pakistan Mehwish Bhatti and Kanwal Amar – it’s these committed individulas that deserve the real credit.
“I thank everyone involved with the awards as it provided the asylum seeker community of Pakistan to recognize that many people are there to provide support and love. I am told it was a real morale booster and wish I could have been there.”
