Leighton Medley our BPCA Outreach Minister has returned to Pakistan to reach new communities with the true Gospel of Christ and to continue the discipling
those who have been already been reached through our previous campaigns. Leighton’s remit for this work is quite simple, he is to bolster the faith
of Christians who have little access to regular church services setting up bible study leaders who will one day become ministers of the Gospel in rural
communities, he is to bring revival and better understanding to Christian churches in Pakistan many of which have adopted a very legalistic theology
and have forgotten the need for repentance, faith in Christ and the need to place our trust in Him. Leighton has also been reaching out to Muslims
and we hope that soon his work will provide a dividend by bringing others to the family of God.
He has been having great success with many believers expressing revival, churchgoers committing their lives to Christ, and Muslims taking an interest in the Gospel though yet to commit to Christ. We hope with further donations to make Leighton’s role a permanent one in two years time. Below is one of Leighton’s recent accounts of a trip to Bahar Colony, Lahore:
“Without doubt, this was the best 2 days ministry, I have ever been privileged to be involved with. On the Friday we had close to 100 people there, while on Saturday there was maybe 75 or so. The place was rocking with fantastic worship of God, you could hear the sound several streets away. In a sense we should expect this, and when we come to church, it should be with an expectant heart. The topic was a most important one and one we were asked to do, that being on Christian family life.
“Jonathan Edwards, the great American theologian of the 18th century, once said that every family in every house is like a little Church. Never a truer word spoken, because that’s where faith starts, in the family. It is because there has been a steep rise in family breakdown amongst Pakistan Christians that we felt the need to conduct this seminar.
“We looked at the roles of the husbands and wives in relation to scripture, as well as how we should view our children. We had many different people at this seminar, some of them ministers and the encouragement we received was breathtaking. Almost everybody we spoke to, were overwhelming in their desire to have more of this teaching. It proves there is hope here, and that those who right off the Pakistan Christians are deluded in their thinking. There is a hunger over here and it needs to be filled. I get a clear sense that sections of the Christian community, are now fed up with the professional beggars, that only seek to use missionaries for financial profit.
“First up on the seminar, I spoke on how the family was under assault like never before, largely due to the naturalistic worldview being in the ascendancy. The rise of feminism and the agenda on gender neutrality. Then Brother Haroon Suleman spoke on the role of the husband and the importance of male headship. That finished the first evening.
“On the second evening, I addressed the biblical roles of women and finally the issue of children and how we raise them in accordance with scripture. Many were challenged over the children sermon. I think that along with the male headship, were the messages that challenged the most people. With regards to our children, if we raise them in a worldly way, they will belong to the world and we will lose them, remember our children are the future. The key is to show them Jesus and show them the Christian life. Children should not imitate ourselves, otherwise they will just follow our behavioural patterns. This is borne out by the fact that most abusers come from an abusive family and imbibe those tendencies from an early age. We must involve our children in our worship and not marginalise them, or we could risk losing them, they are the future and we must protect them. All in all a great weekend for BPCA and a great weekend for Millenium Kingdom Church, may God bless them and their work in the future.
