Oxford Academics learn about Pakistani Christian Persecution

Chairman of the British Pakistani Christian Association Wilson Chowdhry was invited to speak to students and academics at Oxford University’s famous
Wycliffe Hall.

The meeting was organised by the student group ‘Spectrum’ which is led by theology students at the ancient educational establishment.  The aim
of the group is to ‘have graceful conversations, to love, serve and seek the truth.’

Mr Chowdhry presented a copy of BPCA’s latest publication to the Faculty Principal Revd Dr Michael Lloyd.  BPCA have been informed the publication
will be placed in the faculty library and made available to others.

A copy will also be given to Oxford City Rector who has worked in Pakistan as an Anglican minister.

BPCA hopes that the reports and the presentation given by Mr Chowdhry will inspire academics from Oxford to analyse the persecution in Pakistan and
prepare their own seminal reports with empirical data.  Contributions of this could provide the necessary input for UK Government officials to
reassess their relationship with Pakistan, especially with regards to the use of Foreign aid budget which could be used as a lever for change to the
country’s poor human rights record.

Wilson Chowdhry, Chairman of the BPCA, said:

“It was a real honour to speak at such a prestigious educational establishment to students who have a penchant for transforming the UK.  I hope and pray that our contribution triggers more interest in researching religious freedom and persecution in Pakistan, so that the truth might one day set free millions of Christians in Pakistan.”

Shariar  who organised the event said:

“[Your presentation] was informative. Very moving stories. I have received many positive feedback. Many people have requested another similar meeting with longer time for Q & A. Thank you so much for coming to speak to us and we wish you every good wish in your ongoing ministry. God bless.”
