On 17th December 2017, a peaceful nativity service at Bethel Memorial Methodist Church in Quetta, Pakistan, was shattered by a brutal terrorist attack that left nine innocent worshippers dead. Among the survivors was a little girl named Aleeza, just 1.5 years old at the time, whose life was forever changed by the tragedy.
Aleeza sustained life-threatening injuries from shrapnel, including severe bowel damage and the traumatic loss of her left leg below the knee. While her initial treatment at a public hospital proved inadequate—resulting in dangerous gangrene—it was the urgent intervention by the British Asian Christian Association (BACA) that saved her life. She was transferred to a private hospital in Karachi where skilled surgeons performed a second operation that halted the spread of infection and stabilized her condition.
Since that traumatic day, Aleeza has shown incredible resilience. Through your generous donations, BACA has been able to provide her with a new prosthetic leg every six months—a necessity due to her growing body. Without these regular replacements, she would face swelling, discomfort, and significant mobility challenges. Her father, Ashiq Masih, a college sweeper on a very limited income, simply could not meet these critical medical needs on his own.
Last month, Ashiq contacted BACA when Aleeza began experiencing pain and swelling due to her worn-out prosthetic. We immediately acted to provide her with a custom-fitted new leg. Thanks to your ongoing support, Aleeza is now back at school, attending grade 4, and happily reunited with her classmates.

Her father told us:
“I am thankful to the Lord and the BACA donors for helping Aleeza live a happy life.”
Despite all she has endured, Aleeza continues to shine academically, and she cherishes spending time with her friends. She remains an active member of her church, participating joyfully in Sunday School activities. Her smile is a testament to the strength of her spirit—and to the compassion of donors like you who have helped restore her childhood.

Help us continue supporting Aleeza and children like her. Your donation can bring hope and healing to victims of persecution.
“Aleeza’s courage in the face of unimaginable trauma continues to inspire us all. Her ability to smile, learn, and play again reminds us why our work matters. At BACA, we are honoured to walk alongside her, ensuring she receives the care and dignity every child deserves. We thank our donors for making this journey possible.”
