A devastating roof collapse in Narowal claimed the life of a young child and left Nasir Masih’s family of 16 homeless and grieving.
Already burdened by past losses, the family was forced to live in cramped rented rooms while struggling with poverty and trauma.
BACA stepped in, covering funeral and medical costs and pledging to rebuild their home with stronger, safer foundations.
Today, the completed house stands as a symbol of restored dignity, faith, and hope—made possible by the generosity of BACA supporters.
The British Asian Christian Association (BACA) has completed the reconstruction of a home for Nasir Masih and his extended family in Christian Colony, Narowal, restoring stability and dignity after a tragic and life-altering disaster.
On 27 August, a devastating roof collapse destroyed the family’s home following a severe downpour. The roof of the second floor gave way without warning, crashing through the first floor and collapsing to ground level. Two-year-old Anaya Qaiser lost her life in the incident, while Abeel Nasir (2) and Shanaya Nasir sustained serious injuries. (Read more here)
For this family of 16, already burdened by the loss of two brothers in previous years, the tragedy was overwhelming. Alongside grief and injury, they were left homeless and financially crippled, forced to rely on the goodwill of neighbours and relatives.
Immediate Support in a Time of Crisis
BACA’s team visited the family shortly after the incident, offering comfort and urgent assistance. Funeral expenses were fully covered, and financial aid was provided immediately to ensure that the injured children received timely medical treatment.
With their home completely destroyed, the family was forced to scatter into small, overcrowded rooms offered temporarily by neighbours. This displacement added immense strain, especially for the children.
During a later visit, Arooj Nasir shared the hardships they faced while living in rented accommodation. After one month, neighbours began charging rent—an additional burden on the family’s already meagre income.
She explained that the family shared a single washroom with the homeowners, forcing the children to return to their damaged home—still under construction—just to use basic facilities. A single small room could not accommodate her own children alongside those of her late brother-in-law, Qaiser Masih.
“Living in one small, congested room was extremely difficult for all of us,” Arooj said.
“But we remain thankful to our neighbours for helping us during our hardest days.”
A Promise Kept: Rebuilding with Safety and Strength
Recognising the urgent need to reunite the family and restore their dignity, BACA pledged to rebuild the home from scratch. Construction began at the end of November, with the goal of completion before Christmas. While severe weather caused delays, the work has now been successfully completed.
The newly rebuilt house features:
Strong, reinforced foundations
An elevated structure raised three feet above street level to protect against flooding
A safer, more durable design built from bricks instead of mud, engineered to withstand harsh weather.

Built stronger, built safer—a new ‘brick’ home with elevated, firm foundations.
The family is preparing to move into their new home as soon as remaining moisture dries.
With visible relief and gratitude, Arooj Bibi shared:
“BACA has rebuilt a home for us. I am deeply thankful to BACA and its donors for giving us a safe place to live.”
“With my husband’s small salary, we could never have rebuilt this house on our own.”
Restoring Hope, One Family at a Time
This rebuilt home represents far more than bricks and cement—it is a symbol of hope, unity, and faith restored. Through your generosity, a grieving and displaced Christian family has been given the chance to heal and move forward together.

Juliet Chowdhry, Trustee of the British Asian Christian Association:
“This family has endured unimaginable loss, yet their faith has remained unwavering. Rebuilding their home was about more than bricks and mortar—it was about reuniting a family and restoring their dignity, safety, and hope. We are profoundly grateful to our donors. Because of you, they now have a safe home and a renewed sense of hope for the future.”
Help Us Rebuild Lives and Restore Dignity
BACA continues to support families across Pakistan who are affected by sudden tragedy, poverty, and persecution. After last summer’s monsoon, we have just one final home left to repair—and we need to raise £2,000 to replace its entire roof.
