Aleeza’s journey began with unimaginable tragedy. On 17th December 2017, a peaceful Nativity service at Bethel Memorial Methodist Church in Quetta, Pakistan, was shattered by a devastating terrorist attack that claimed the lives of nine innocent worshippers. Among the survivors was Aleeza, who was just 18 months old at the time.
The attack left Aleeza with life-threatening injuries caused by shrapnel, including severe bowel damage and the traumatic loss of her left leg below the knee. Her condition worsened after inadequate treatment at a public hospital led to a dangerous gangrene infection. Recognising the urgency of her situation, BACA intervened and arranged for her transfer to a private hospital in Karachi, where specialist surgeons performed a life-saving operation that halted the infection and stabilised her condition.
Over the years, Aleeza has demonstrated remarkable courage and resilience. Thanks to the generosity of BACA supporters, she has received regular prosthetic leg replacements to accommodate her growth and help her maintain an active and independent life (Read more here).
In May 2026, Aleeza’s father, Ashiq Masih (46), contacted BACA to explain that her existing prosthetic leg had become damaged and was causing discomfort, making it difficult for her to walk and attend school. BACA responded immediately and arranged for a replacement. Unfortunately, the process was briefly delayed following the death of Ashiq’s elder brother, Akram Masih, on 7th June.
Despite this setback, Aleeza has now received her new prosthetic leg and is once again able to walk comfortably, attend school, play with friends, and participate in church activities.

Speaking with excitement and gratitude, Aleeza said:
“My previous leg had been damaged and was too small. I was unable to walk properly or go to school, but I am thankful to God for providing me with a new leg. I am also thankful to BACA and its donors.”
For many years, BACA has provided Aleeza with a new prosthetic leg every six months. However, as she continues to grow rapidly, her father has explained that she now requires a replacement approximately every four months to ensure comfort, mobility, and healthy physical development.
Ashiq Masih, who works as a sweeper at a Government College, could never afford the cost of these regular replacements on his modest income.
He expressed his appreciation to BACA and its supporters:
“With the support of BACA, I am able to provide a new prosthetic leg for Aleeza. It gives us immense joy to watch her playing, walking, and going to school on her own. I am thankful to the BACA donors for their continuous help.”
Despite the challenges she has faced, Aleeza continues to excel academically and enjoys spending time with her friends. She remains an active member of her church and enthusiastically participates in Sunday School activities. Her smile is a powerful reminder of how life-changing compassionate support can be.
Aleeza’s next prosthetic leg replacement is expected in October 2026. With your continued support, BACA can ensure that she receives the care she needs to remain active, healthy, and independent throughout her childhood.

Juliet Chowdhry, trustee of BACA, said:
“Every time Aleeza receives a new prosthetic leg, it is a reminder of the life-changing impact of our donors’ generosity. Your support is helping a courageous young girl walk, learn, play, and enjoy the childhood that was almost taken from her. Aleeza’s resilience continues to inspire us all. Despite the trauma she endured at such a young age, she has embraced life with remarkable courage and determination.”
