On Mother’s Day, a Christian farm worker was allegedly accused of stealing a mobile phone and brutally beaten to death. The helpless mother demands justice for the blood of her beloved son. The culprits inhumanely bruised his body and pierced nails into his private parts. The BACA team visited the grieving family to stand in solidarity with them and ensured legal and financial help to fight for justice against the brutal murder of the innocent farm worker.

Brutally Murdered on Mother’s Day: A Mother’s Cry for Justice
In a heart-wrenching incident on Mother’s Day, a Christian man named Kashif Masih (35) was brutally tortured and murdered in Jamke Cheema, a village in Tehsil Daska, Sialkot. Accused of a mobile phone theft by Muslim landlords, Kashif was subjected to inhuman torture — including piercing of nails into sensitive parts of his body — and was left unconscious on the road where he later died from his injuries.
This tragedy has shaken the local Christian community and highlighted once again the cruel vulnerability of religious minorities in Pakistan’s rural areas.

Lured, Tortured, and Left to Die
On Sunday, 12th May, Kashif was called to work at the farm of Malik Muhammad Irfan to tend cattle and clean the premises. After finishing his task and returning home at around 5:00 pm, he received another call from the landlord asking him to return to the farm. Kashif informed his mother and left — never to return alive.
By the following afternoon, Kashif made a desperate call to his brother Riasat Masih (41), stating he had been falsely accused of theft and that Irfan wanted to search their house. A search was conducted, but nothing was found.
Early the next morning, a passerby on his way to the mosque found Kashif lying barely conscious on the road. He alerted the family. When they arrived, Kashif was able to whisper,
“Malik Irfan and his sons have tortured me.”
These were the last words he ever spoke.
Despite urgent calls to emergency services, the police responded sluggishly. Kashif succumbed to his wounds en route to Tehsil Head Quarters Hospital, Daska.

Public Outcry and Arrests
Outraged by the brutality and delayed police action, the family and neighbours blocked the road at Iqbal Chowk demanding justice. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sajjad Bajwa assured immediate action, prompting the crowd to disperse.
A First Information Report (FIR) [No. 754/25] was filed against Malik Muhammad Irfan, Muhammad Areeb, Muhammad Ijaz, and five unknown individuals under Sections 302, 149, and 148 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Malik Irfan had fled, but was arrested from Gujranwala on 13th May, and he later led police to recover the weapon used in the torture.
| 302. | Punishment of qatl-i-amd: Whoever commits qatl-e-amd shall, subject to the provisions of this Chapter be:
|
| 149. | Every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object: If an offence is committed by any member of an unlawful assembly in prosecution of the common object of that assembly, or such as the members of that assembly knew to be likely to be committed in prosecution of that object, every person who, at the time of the committing of that offence, is a member of the same assembly, is guilty of that offence. |
| 148. | Rioting, armed with deadly weapon: Whoever is guilty of rioting, being armed with a deadly weapon or with anything which, used as a weapon of offence, is likely to cause death, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three years, or with fine, or with both. |
BACA Intervention: Standing with the Family
On 14th May, the British Asian Christian Association (BACA) team visited the grieving family, escorted Riasat Masih to the Motra Police Station, and met with SHO Mubeen Cheema and Investigation Officer Abid Farooq. The officers confirmed that Malik Irfan had confessed and led police to the crime scene.
On 15th May, BACA’s solicitor Muhammad Sultan Ali Dogar accompanied the family again to follow up with the investigation officer. Despite delays and uncooperative behaviour from police, our legal team pressed on.
By 16th May, they had secured a meeting with the Punjab General Prosecutor, Mr. Farhad Ali Shah, who immediately summoned the investigation officer and issued orders to strengthen the investigation.

Police Negligence Exposed
During a later meeting with DSP Sajjad Bajwa, BACA’s legal team discovered serious procedural lapses. Key documents — including postmortem reports, call data records (CDRs), and evidence reports — were missing from the case file. DSP Bajwa promised to rectify these errors and instructed the officer to include all essential records.
A Mother’s Unbearable Loss
The BACA team then visited Kashif’s family home and met Khursheed Bibi (60), Kashif’s heartbroken mother. Through her tears, she could barely speak but managed to say:
“I want justice for my son. Help me get justice.”
BACA has committed to providing legal and financial support to the family to ensure that this case is not brushed aside or manipulated.
Call for Justice
This heinous act is not just a family’s tragedy — it is a brutal reminder of the daily discrimination and violence faced by Christians in Pakistan. BACA remains resolute in its mission to stand with victims, seek justice, and hold perpetrators accountable. We call on authorities to prosecute all those involved to the fullest extent of the law.
We ask our supporters around the world to pray for the Masih family and to donate generously so that we can continue providing urgent legal aid to the victims of religious persecution in Pakistan.
“The horrific killing of Kashif Masih is not just a tragedy—it is a damning indictment of the justice system in Pakistan. That a man could be tortured to death under false allegations, and that the police failed to act promptly or conduct a proper investigation, shows the systemic discrimination Christians face daily. The failure to collect crucial evidence and the reluctance to pursue justice sends a chilling message to other vulnerable minorities. We will continue to support Kashif’s family in their fight for justice and will not allow this brutal crime to be swept under the carpet.”
