Dozens of teenagers have committed themselves to spend time in Ilford Town Centre engaging with children and teenagers during the first week of the summer holidays, in their attempts to promote peace, love and unity in Redbridge. Over the last few months Redbridge Council has agreed a monthly schedule of community events with British Pakistani Christian Association in Ilford’s pedestrian broadway, to enable charities and community groups to seek referrals via a direct public interface. A Catholic Church in Harsan Kot Chak 165, in the district of Samundari, 36 km from Faisalabad came under attack on the evening of 13th July 2018 when four armed men fired bullets at the front wall and entry. A Pakistani church in New Sarabah Village, Toba Tek Singh Chak 336, has been forced to approach the Deputy Commissioner of Police for Toba Tek Singh for permission to use their church building. Their church was banned for any kind of church services two years ago after Christian music and prayers emanating from the building caused severe offence to local Muslims. The church building for Full Gospel Assembly was bravely completed in 2012 despite several threats from local Muslim leaders. The Supreme Court of Pakistan has directed all the authorities within the country to refer to the Christian community as ‘Masihi’ officially. For this purpose the authorities were directed to make all necessary arrangements in official documents and records to use the word Masihi instead of Esai. British Pakistani Christian Association has been working hard to alter the way our local council interacts with the residents living in the London Borough of Redbridge. Our main cause for concern were the lack of local events to help foster harmony within the community and create opportunities for community groups and charities in our borough promote their services and gain referrals, to help strengthen the community.
